About the course: Who are you(like, really)?In this fun poetic inquiry course, you will explore, toy with, and discover facets of yourself—both proprium and persona—that may have escaped your notice until now. Throughout the sessions, you’ll employ various techniques that tap into different dimensions of your personality. From questioning the interplay of nature and nurture to exploring the influence of your zodiac sign and delving into the mysteries encoded within your genes, be prepared for an enlightening exploration of your true self—remember, poetry is also a research method!

The following themes will be covered:

Session 1: Genetics (Jan 4, 2024 at 18:00-20:00 UK)

Session 2: Enneagram (Jan 11, 2024 at 18:00-20:00 UK)

Session 3: Horoscopes (Jan 18, 2024 at 18:00-20:00 UK)

Session 4: Alter egos (Jan 25, 2024 at 18:00-20:00 UK)

Through a blend of creativity and introspection, this course promises to unearth and poetically express interesting aspects of your “self”. And no, you do not need to be an expert on Jungian typology to join the fun!

This course seamlessly blends theory and hands-on poetry writing and editing. Guided by a series of thought-provoking prompts, you’ll start a poetic inquiry that unveils the diverse facets of your personality. As you craft poems that authentically speak to the many dimensions of who you are, prepare to laugh, cry, discover, and connect with  some amazing writing buddies!

What to bring? Just your “self” (literally).

Roula-Maria Dib (PhD, Leeds) is an award-winning literary scholar, author, poet, and editor whose research interests include literature, creative writing, and Jungian psychology. She is a holder of the UK Global Talent Visa, the winner of the British Council’s Alumni Awards 2021-2022 for the Culture and Creativity category in the UAE and a recipient of the AUD Provost’s Award for Outstanding Literary Achievement 2020; her book, Jungian Metaphor in Modernist Literature (Routledge, 2020) was shortlisted as a finalist for the IAJS (International Association for Jungian Studies) book awards, and some poems from her collection, Simply Being (Chiron Press, 2021) have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Roula-Maria is also the Director of LABRC, founding editor of literary and arts journal, Indelible, and creative producer of literary event series, Indelible Evenings, as well as Psychreative, a virtual salon for researchers, artists, and writers with a background in Jungian psychology. Her MOOC, “Why Online Creative Communities Matter”, is featured on Academia.edu. She is a member of The Poetry Society, the Royal Society of Literature, the British Association for Modernist Studies, the International Association for Jungian Studies, and the Jungian Society for Scholarly Studies.
