About Dr. Susan Rowland
Dr. Susan Rowland is a leading scholar at Pacifica Graduate Institute and one of the foremost voices in Jungian arts-based research. Her groundbreaking work has opened new pathways for understanding how depth psychology, myth, and symbolism can serve as profound instruments of knowing. As she describes it, Jungian arts-based research “means making knowledge through creativity, the imagination and the unknown psyche or the unconscious” — a vision that positions art not merely as expression, but as a legitimate and powerful mode of inquiry. In her own words, “Jungian arts-based research is doing therapy with the world.”
