Join us in celebrating the release of Unwrapping Christmas, the very first book in our Indelible Inquiry series — a festive, imaginative, and interdisciplinary exploration of Christmas through arts-based research.!!📚❄️
It will be an inspiring evening of ideas, storytelling, and seasonal magic as we hear from contributors and dive into the many worlds within this beautiful volume!🎄
Unwrapping Christmas Through Arts-Based Research invites readers into a richly imaginative exploration of winter’s most storied festivals. Bringing together scholars, artists, and creative practitioners, this inaugural issue of Indelible Inquiry explores Christmas not as a fixed cultural event but as a living tapestry of myth, ritual, theology, philosophy, ecology, and artistic expression.
From psychedelic journeys in search of Santa Claus to theological meditations on stalagmites and stalactites, from Norse solstice rituals to the luminous symbolism of stars, caves, music, horror, and Hegelian paradoxes in Christmas-themed narratives and art, this volume reveals Christmas as a site of wonder, mystery, and continual reinvention. Each contribution examines how stories, images, and embodied practices shape our understanding of the season—its enchantments, contradictions, and deep human longings.
Published by the London Arts-Based Research Centre, Unwrapping Christmas offers readers a festive constellation of interdisciplinary research, poetic inquiry, and creative reflection. It is an invitation to look again at winter’s oldest stories, and to discover new meanings in the light they cast.
