“Resonance & Revelation:
Exploring the Human Voice as an Agent of
Creativity, Healing, and Liberation”
Description: For most of us, the voice is our primary channel of communication. We speak, sing, scream, mumble, mutter, and whisper. We weave stories, gossip and lie, improvise, and cut each other off; some of us even speak in our sleep. The voice is also highly charged, both emotionally and psychically. It can easily become the home of psychosomatic symptoms, but it can also serve as an instrument of psychological integrity.
In this talk, we will explore the many dimensions of the human voice, including the way our voice mirrors our inner world; the way shame leads to vocal tension and self-silencing; and the way that speaking the truth can liberate us. This talk will also include segments of music and visuals to complement and counterbalance the more verbal, intellectual portions of discussion.
Biography: Daniel Siuba is a composer, singer-songwriter, and voice actor, as well as a writer, amateur filmmaker, and visual artist. His vivid dream life has influenced nearly every aspect of his creative practice, and in high school, his interest in dreams led him to the work of C. G. Jung, Robert A. Johnson, and Marion Woodman.
After graduating from college with a BA in music, he took a nearly 10-year detour into the field of clinical psychology. In 2015, he completed an MA in Counseling Psychology, and after a year’s break, he began a doctoral program in clinical psychology. During his period, Daniel presented papers at the International Forum for Psychoanalytic Education (IFPE), and he performed an original piece, “Songs of Unquiet Desire,” at the Art & Psyche IV conference at U.C. Santa Barbara in 2019. During this period, he also co-produced Freedom Girl with singer-songwriter Liv Lombardi, andin 2022, he released his own surreal road trip EP, I remember telling this story.
However, after nearly ten years of inner conflict, Daniel withdrew from his doctoral program. Since then, he has redirected his energy toward his creative practice. In 2024, he collaborated with the poet and artist Emmy Vye on the short film, I Just Wanted to Grow Tomatoes, which he edited, animated, and scored. He also released Scattered Dreams, an audiovisual poem inspired by six dreams. In May 2025, he began releasing new songs, including, “My Heart,” “Sink or Swim,” and “Vocatus (Song of Rest),” which are available on all streaming platforms.
