You may have heard people say, “Writers, write.” We creatives hear this often. While absolutely true, sometimes it’s a little more complicated. Sometimes we feel stuck. We don’t know where to start or how to start. We don’t feel like we have optimal time or the right surroundings to get immersed in writing. One of the reasons so many writers struggle is because they’ve bought into the notion of so-called “writer’s block” and fear staring at blank pages, at a loss for how to proceed. Writer’s block is a myth. Sure, there will be times when you don’t feel inspired and feel unable to write what you desire, and times when you may not be able to write well. But you can always write something. Don’t wait around for inspiration to strike. Learn to cultivate good writing habits and inspiration will follow. Sometimes we need a jumpstart. In this course, you will learn several specific strategies to jumpstart your creative writing. Armed with these strategies, you will always be able to write, regardless of the amount of time you have or how you feel at the time.
This course will be run in a workshop style. There will be a formal presentation, writing time, and discussion. Come as you are, whether you’re in the midst of a writing project or without a project.
